First & Last Tavern will serve its last meals at its location in the Hartford County town of Avon at 26 West Main St. (Route 202) on Sunday, Nov. 10, the chain announced on social media.
The restaurant did not specify a reason for the closure but thanked those who stopped by over the decades, many of whom celebrated major life events within its walls.
"It's hard to believe 30 years has passed since we first opened our doors. As we reflect on it all now, we are remembering all of the birthdays, wedding rehearsal dinners, baby and bridal showers, holiday parties, graduations, and special family dinners that we were lucky enough to have been a part of," the owners wrote in their post.
They continued, "We owe our longevity and success to our amazingly loyal customers. We can't thank you enough for supporting us throughout the years."
Those who stop by before the eatery's closure can enjoy its authentic Italian cuisine, which includes gourmet brick oven pizzas, spaghetti, chicken parmesan, burgers, shells with meatballs, and more.
If you don't get the chance to stop at the Avon locale before it's gone, don't worry; the chain's other locations in Plainville, Glastonbury, and Hartford will remain open.
Still, the Avon location is looking forward to going out on a good note.
"Please stop by and see us over the next month, as we would love to see you all one more time," the owners wrote.
The news of the closure prompted several bittersweet comments on social media:
"So sad. I’ve had so many amazing memories here. My family has eaten dinner here since I was little, I was employed for about 10 years and have so many lifelong friendships all surrounding first and last!" wrote one commenter.
"Sad, great food, loved that restaurant," commented another.
